BIOLMIEL 2025 Press Release – Medals List
The XVIII edition of the International BIOLMIEL Award was held in Bari from November 27 to 30, awarding
the BIOLMIEL quality medals to the best organic honeys in the world. The prizes were awarded based on
chemical analyses carried out at the CREAA-AA Laboratory in Bologna and the organoleptic evaluation by
the International BIOLMIEL Jury, convened in Bari and composed of 10 Italian and foreign experts
registered with the National Register of Experts in Honey Sensory Analysis, under the guidance of Panel
Chef Gian Luigi Marcazzan. The participating honeys, in the two categories monofloral and polyfloral, were
sent by 63 beekeepers, totaling 228 honey samples from Algeria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Lithuania,
Slovenia, Slovakia, and Spain.
For the monofloral category, first place was awarded to the strawberry tree honey of the Sardinian
company Azienda Agricola Arbarรจe of Simaxis (OR). In second place was the lavender honey from the
Spanish family company Setentaynueve, harvested in the Valladolid area, and in third place we found the
acacia honey from the Lombard company Apicoltura Zipoli.
For the polyflorl category, the winner of BIOLMIEL 2025 is the Spanish honey from the company Mel
Caramel in Mallorca with Mel de Son Real, in second place the Abruzzoโs beekeeper Apicoltura Rosalba
Spineto with a honey harvested in the Maiella National Park, and in third place a Greek summer polyfloral
honey from the beekeeper Geranos Stefanos.
The event was organized by BIOL ITALIA in collaboration with CREA-AA of Bologna and with the sponsorship
of ICEA – Ethical and Environmental Certification Institute.
All participants will be sent certificates for the BIOLMIEL awards received and the reports of anal
regarding HMF content and water content of the different honeys.
